How can one train self hypnosis? I am struggling to get it done? Don’t I believe enough? How can I?

  • The best way to train in self hypnosis is to first find a hypnotist to hypnotize you.
  • Your beliefs certainly regulate the degree of success you attain. A simple way to fix issues with beliefs is to do daily affirmations to the effect of:
  • “I enter hypnosis deeply and easily”
  • Perhaps a useful way to enhance your learning is to consider the two foundational hypnotic principles:
  • 1- repetition
  • 2- compounding
  • And to add to them a couple of cliches:
  • 1- “Trust the process”
  • 2- “Practice breeds excellence”
  • When practicing, follow a simple fixed procedure that’s easy to replicate. I will summarize a technique I learnt from Gerry Kein known as the light switch technique.
  • 1- Imagine, visualize, picture or pretend there is a light switch that controls the electrical circuitry between your brain and body.
  • 2- Raise your index finger and visualize the switch in the on position.
  • 3- Fix your gaze on a Point at least 45 degrees above your eye level. Fix your gaze until you are ready to relax and drop into hypnosis.
  • 4- Repeat mentally “ I will go into deep hypnosis now” at least 3 times
  • 5- Drop your finger and see the switch turn to the “OFF” position
  • 6- Close your eyes and imagine, visualize, picture or pretend all the electric activity from your brain to your body through your spine turns off
  • 7- When you’re ready to emerge raise your trigger finger and see the switch move to the “ON” position before you open your eyes.
  • Practice a few times a day for a week and then you can replace step 4 with any suggestions you like.
  • It generally takes five days of repetition for suggestions to take hold.
