Does hypnosis help to overcome phobias? What are the possible risks in hypnosis?

  • A phobia is an intense fear or the fear of a fear and it is usually unwarranted. Hypnosis and/or NLP are of the most effective ways to eliminate phobias. Fears and phobias are treated by desensitization. The idea is to replace the fear with a more conducive emotional reaction.
  • The only risk in Hypnotherapy is that it doesn’t work to your satisfaction. This would probably cause you to give into the disorder you suffer from and think it will never go away.
  • In my experience; most phobias I’ve treated disappear from a single session. A large portion of those clients are not convinced they were hypnotized and question whether it was the hypnosis that helped. The usual comment is I wasn’t hypnotized because I was aware…
  • Some clients have reported that the fear had come back after a definite relief
  • This phenomenon demonstrates that:
  • A. Hypnosis is a mental process that includes awareness
  • B. Hypnosis affects emotion
  • C. Outcomes are reversible
  • Hypnosis is a form of talk therapy and carries no known risk. Common critiques are of the possibility of manipulation and Ill intent. Like all other therapies; failure to obtain a prescribed outcome may cause loss of faith in the possibility of relief.
